Our Quality Process
Six checkpoints stand between an incoming used tote and a certified, customer-ready container. Here is how our quality management process works at every stage.
Intake Inspection
Every IBC tote entering our facility undergoes a detailed multi-point inspection. We assess the HDPE bottle for cracks, UV degradation, and chemical damage. The steel cage is examined for structural integrity, rust, and weld quality. The valve assembly, gaskets, and cap are evaluated for wear. Previous contents labels are recorded for traceability. Based on this assessment, each tote is assigned a routing: recondition, rebottle, or recycle.
Cleaning Protocol Selection
Based on the tote's previous contents and intended reuse category, our quality team selects the appropriate cleaning protocol. Food-grade totes receive our FDA-aligned triple-rinse process. Chemical and industrial totes are cleaned with targeted agents matched to the specific contaminant. Hazmat totes follow our DOT-mandated decontamination procedure. The cleaning protocol is documented on the tote's certification record.
Post-Clean Testing
After cleaning, every tote undergoes a suite of quality tests. The interior is pH-tested to confirm chemical neutrality. A trained technician performs a visual inspection under bright light to check for residue, staining, or damage missed during cleaning. Food-grade totes pass an additional olfactory test. The valve assembly is cycled and tested for smooth operation and leak-free sealing.
Pressure & Leak Testing
Each reconditioned tote is pressure-tested to verify the bottle's containment integrity. We apply controlled air pressure and monitor for any drop that would indicate a micro-crack, pinhole, or seal failure. Totes that fail pressure testing are removed from the reconditioning line and routed to recycling. This step ensures that every certified tote can safely contain its rated volume without leakage.
Final Grading & Certification
A dedicated quality inspector performs the final assessment and assigns the tote's grade. Grade A totes are in like-new condition with no visible wear. Grade B totes show minor cosmetic wear but are fully functional. Grade C totes have noticeable wear but remain structurally sound for general-purpose use. The inspector affixes a grade tag with cleaning date, previous contents category, and a unique certification number.
Pre-Ship Verification
Before any tote leaves our facility, a final pre-ship check confirms the correct grade, quantity, valve configuration, and labeling match the customer's order. Documentation including cleaning certificates, compliance paperwork, and grade tags are verified. This last checkpoint catches any discrepancies before the tote reaches the customer, ensuring every delivery meets expectations.

How We Maintain Certifications
Certifications are not one-time achievements. They require continuous effort, regular audits, and a company-wide commitment to quality and compliance.
Annual Renewal Audits
Every certification we hold undergoes a formal renewal process. Our compliance team prepares documentation, updates procedures, and coordinates with certifying bodies to ensure seamless renewal well before expiration dates.
Employee Training Programs
All team members complete certification-specific training upon hire and annually thereafter. Training covers hazardous waste handling, DOT reconditioning protocols, food-grade cleaning procedures, and OSHA workplace safety standards.
Internal Quality Audits
Our quality manager conducts monthly internal audits of all certification-related processes. These audits simulate external inspections and identify potential compliance gaps before they become issues.
Document Control System
We maintain a centralized document control system that tracks every certificate, permit, SDS, training record, and audit report. Automated alerts notify our team 90 days before any document expires.
Corrective Action Process
When an internal audit or customer feedback identifies a non-conformance, our corrective action process kicks in immediately. Root cause analysis, corrective measures, and verification follow-up are documented and tracked to closure.
Regulatory Monitoring
Our compliance team monitors federal and state regulatory updates from the DOT, EPA, OSHA, IDEM, and FDA. When regulations change, we update our procedures and retrain staff before the effective date.
Third-Party Audits
We do not just certify ourselves. Independent third-party auditors verify our processes, documentation, and facility conditions to ensure we meet every standard we claim.

What We Can Provide
Certification FAQ
Answers to common questions about our certifications, compliance, and quality assurance processes.
Are your reconditioned IBC totes UN/DOT certified for hazmat transport?
Yes, totes that are reconditioned under our DOT authorization receive new UN markings that certify them for the transport of hazardous materials. Each tote is pressure-tested, inspected, and marked with our facility code and reconditioning date per 49 CFR requirements. Not all totes in our inventory are hazmat-certified. If you need UN-rated containers, specify this when ordering and we will ensure your shipment includes only DOT-compliant totes.
Can I tour your facility to see your quality processes firsthand?
Absolutely. We welcome facility tours and encourage prospective customers to see our operation in person. Tours are available Monday through Friday by appointment. A typical tour takes 45-60 minutes and covers the entire process from intake inspection through cleaning, testing, grading, and shipping. Contact us to schedule a tour at a time that works for your team.
Do your food-grade certifications meet FDA requirements?
Our food-grade cleaning process follows protocols aligned with FDA 21 CFR and USDA standards. We use only FDA-approved, food-safe cleaning agents, and every food-grade tote receives a triple-rinse cleaning, pH testing, and visual and olfactory inspection. We issue a cleaning certificate with every food-grade tote documenting the protocol used and previous contents category. However, we recommend consulting your own regulatory team to confirm that our documentation meets your specific compliance requirements.
How often are your certifications renewed?
Most of our certifications are renewed annually. Our DOT reconditioning authorization, EPA compliance, IDEM permits, and OSHA compliance all undergo annual review and renewal. Our internal quality audits are conducted monthly, and employee safety training is renewed annually. We maintain a document control calendar that tracks every certification and permit to ensure nothing lapses.
Can you add our company as an additional insured on your insurance policy?
Yes. We can add your organization as an additional insured on our general liability and product liability policies. This is a common request from larger customers and we are happy to accommodate it. Contact us with your company name, address, and the specific coverage requirements, and our insurance broker will issue an updated certificate within 2-3 business days.
